I create books to express my thoughts, emotions and moods. Creating tactile designs is an essential aspect to my artistic process. Through book making, I am able to experiment, appropriate and explore my own design style.
Some of my earliest design memories are from creating scrapbooks with my mother. I've continued that tradition into my personal artistic practice. My most recent project has been a design style journal. I've used the journal as a catch all for sketches, journal entries, collages, found objects, and inspirational designs.
For a final project in a typography course, I collected as much of my most recent work as possible and then redesigned the content into one unified work. The resulting product is my typographic artbook, ReDesign, which highlights my best sketches, written work, designed visuals and photographs from 2018.
One of my first finished books was Meatbag, an art book created to showcase my first artistic prints. The narrative included in this book is a personal philosophy I believe that we are all bags of meat waiting to be recycled back into the Earth.
